About
Arkstudio is a multi disciplinary platform that combines architecture, interior design and photography.
The studio aims to challenge the boundaries between architecture and interior design in order to create proposals rooted in the architecture’s cultural identity and sensorial experience.
The purpose of the studio’s creations is to generate spaces that prioritise individual and collective well-being, combining aesthetics with functionality and the legacy of architecture identity allied to the tactile experience.
Margarida Matias graduated in Fine Arts, specialising in sculpture at ESAD, Caldas da Rainha, and continued her academic studies with a master's degree in Architecture UL, Lisbon.
Throughout her professional career, she has had the opportunity to work in various contexts. Her career began at the research center of the university where she graduated and later collaborated with several studios in Copenhagen, such as Dorte Mandrup or Entasis.
In 2013, she founded Arkstudio, a studio in Lisbon dedicated to renovation projects and interior architecture. The work developed by the studio reflects some of the concepts Margarida Matias considers fundamental to contemporary architecture, such as the inclusion of cultural identity values and the sensory experience of materials.
